Back in March last year, several top IT firms introduced the work from home model in order to negate the risk of Covid transmission at offices and other large-scale workplaces.
Now that the spread of Covid has subsided considerably, top-tier IT firms are preparing to bring back their workforce to offices.
On a related note, Tata Consultancy Services(TCS) CEO, Rajesh Gopinathan has stated that the firm plans to ask its employees to be come back to offices by the end of 2021.
“Depending on the Covid third wave, sometime towards the end of 2021 or early next year, we will get 70-80% of our workforce back in the offices,” Rajesh said.
The majority of the work force that will be called back to offices will be fully vaccinated.
TCS could be setting a new course for other top IT firms by calling the workforce back to the offices. We can expect other renowned large-scale firms to follow a similar path in the coming months if the Covid outbreak stays at bay.
TCS is the second most-valued firm in India after Reliance Industries. The company constitutes to 10% of India’s 4.6 million IT employees.
