#JeyarajAndBennicks: CCTV Footage Proves The Cops’ Lying

The custodial torture and deaths of Jeyaraj and Bennicks in Tamil Nadu sparked nationwide outrage and demands for murder charges in the police who tortured them to death. In a fresh development, CCTV footage from the moments before Jeyaraj getting arrested by the police came up and that proves the police’s deliberate attempts to hide their brutal torture.

In the story claimed by the police, the father and son kept their store open beyond permissible hours during the lockdown and police had to arrest them both when the father-son had large crowds outside their shop. The FIR states that the police asked the crowd to leave, they left but Jeyaraj and Bennicks threw abuses at the cops, argued, fought and rolled around the street to fight their arrest and got internal injuries.

The CCTV footage exposed the cops lying, pretty clearly. The footage shows no crowds near the mobile store of Jeyaraj and Bennicks. Two police walked to the store and had a chat with Jayaraj and then they walked away. Later, they called Jeyaraj to the other side of the street and took him in custody. Bennicks, after knowing his father being arrested, made some phone calls, and then went ahead to the police station as a pillion rider when the other friend of him drove the motorbike.

The video clearly shows that there is no crowd, nor altercation before the arrest, as alleged by the police in FIR.

The father and son were allegedly trashed several times and sexually assaulted on June 23 at Sathankulam police station. The inspector at Sthankulam station has been suspended.

Meanwhile, A judicial Magistrate accused the police personnel in the case of obstructing him while he was investigating the case at Sathankulam in Tuticorin. The constable reportedly said ‘You cannot do anything to us’. The high court has initiated contempt action against the policemen based on the Judicial magistrate’s report.
