India found a relief for a few months after the Covid cases slowed down post-second wave. Now, the large growing number of cases now indicates that the country is facing a third wave of Covid-19 pandemic. The same has been made official by the head of India’s vaccine task force.
The metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata have reported a combined 75 percent share of Covid cases and that too of Omicron. By last week, the total number of Omicron cases was 12 percent, and this week, it has gone to 28 percent nationwide.
The Chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group, Dr. Arora confirmed that the metro cities show 75 percent of cases with the Omicron variant. So far, 1700 Omicron cases have been reported and Maharashtra has 510 in them.
Dr. Arora also confirmed that India is in the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The evidence and data from the last five days show a big spike in the number of cases. Dr. Arora denied rumors on doubts about safety for 15-18-year-olds who have been taking the vaccine from today with the shelf-life of the doses. He said the vaccines are absolutely safe and the overall shelf-life issues were available only for that period when the studies were being done.
