Hyd: Corona Patient’s Dead Body Left For 8 Hours On Bed

In yet another act of gross negligence reported at Hyderabad’s Gandhi hospital, a dead body of a Corona patient has been left unattended for 8 hours. The dead body of a Covid-patient lied for over 8 hours on the bed where the patient was being treated. The issue came into the light when the other Covid patients in the ward raised their concern.

According to reports, the other Corona patients noticed the dead body and raised a red flag and yet no response from the concerned authorities. As the outsourcing workers are protesting and boycotting their duties, the above incident took place. The worried Covid patients who are treated in the ward complained of foul smell and ran to other wards due to fear.

Some patients have captured video of this incident and the same has been shared to their friends and relatives. The video of a dead body lying unattended has reached social media and it became viral. The issue went to the notice of higher officials after the media intervened.

As the outsourcing workers were protesting, permanent-staff nurses who are in limited numbers and other workers are confined to the ICU wards. So, there was no one to attend to a dead body and shift to a mortuary. While the other Covid workers complained of foul smell from the body, Gandhi hospital superintendent Rajarao clarified that there was no smell from the body. However, he admitted that the services were hit due to protests of outsourcing staff. He said the patient died at 1 PM and it was shifted to mortuary after 7 hours. He said Gandhi hospital is presently serving the patients in 6 ICU wards besides other Covid wards.

Meanwhile, the outsourcing workers in Gandhi hospital have resorted to an indefinite strike. The outsourcing workers have boycotted their works demanding that their jobs should be regularized besides other demands. For the past few days, the outsourcing workers in Gandhi have been protesting in various forms demanding that their demands should be met. They allege that they are not getting due wages despite that they were serving their duties in Covid wards keeping their lives at stake.
