As India completed 30 days of nationwide lockdown, Union Government today announced some relaxations. This brings minor relief to small scale businesses that were drastically affected by the lockdown.

Mobile recharge shops, Cement and construction material shops, book and stationary retail shops, electric shops and flour mills have been exempted from the lockdown. These relaxations are only applicable for the non-hotspots in Urban areas.

Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, said on Thursday areas other than hotspots can have the above relaxations but strict social distancing and using of masks and other precautionary measures such as using hand sanitizers.

He said the relaxation measures have been taken by the government to restore the economy and set the rural economy in order. He said the Union Government is committed for the well being of medical staff and said the government would provide complete security to them. He said nodal officers would be appointed across the country.
