Oscars released a list of 301 feature films ‘eligible’ to compete in Oscars 2023. The list includes movies that can officially compete in various categories featuring in the list does not guarantee that the film will advance to the final nominations of the Academy Awards, which will be announced on January 24. The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, at Los Angeles’ Dolly Theatre.
The list has 10 Indian films and needless to say, RRR is already on it. RRR’s Naatu Naatu is the first song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards. The list also includes Pan Nalin’s Chhello Show (Last Film Show), the official Oscar entry from India.
The other films that made it to the reminder list are Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Marathi films Me Vasantrao, Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi, R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Iravan Nizhal, and Kannada movie Sudeep’s Vikrant Rona also found a place on the eligibility list.
The Documentary films All That Breathes by Shaunak Sen and Kartiki Gonsalves’ The Elephant Whisperers are also part of the list.
