8-Yr-Old Daughter Of Diamond Tycoon Embraces Monkhood

Though born into riches, an eight-year-old girl has decided to give up her luxurious life and embrace monkhood. She is heir to a diamond empire with roots in Surat, Gujarat. Devanshi Sanghvi, is the eldest of two sisters, and had already participated in 367 diksha events before her transition into monkhood.

Yesterday, a grand procession with song, dance, ornamented elephants, horses and camels was taken out before she took up the monkhood. She never watched TV and movies or had gone to any restaurant, a family friend said.

Devanshi’s father Dhanesh Sanghvi runs Sanghvi and Sons, one of the oldest diamond-making companies in Gujarat with branches worldwide and annual turnover running into hundreds of crores. If Devanshi would not have chosen the path of austerity, she would have been the owner of a multi-crore diamond company, once she became an adult.

Dhanesh is the only son of Mohan Sanghvi, the patriarch of Sanghvi and Sons. Devanshi’s sibling Kavya is five-year-old.

According to reports, Dhanesh, his wife Ami and both their children have been known to follow a simple, religious lifestyle despite being very rich. Devanshi followed a strict regimen of prayers thrice a day since her early age.
