AR Rahman’s musical concert in Chennai fell into controversy recently. However, the music composer tendered a public apology for the event managers not maintaining the standards. An old case has come to light with new developments involving the Oscar-winning composer in another controversy.
An association of surgeons registered a complaint against Rahman alleging that he received a sum of Rs 29 lakh for a concert and never conducted one. AR Rahman’s counsel has responded to these allegations and demanded a sum of Rs 10 crore as compensation for trying to defame him.
Rahman sent a legal notice to the Association of Surgeons of India asking them to withdraw the complaint against him within three days. He denied all the allegations and mentioned that third parties were involved, which he was unaware of.
In the legal notice, Rahman asked the association to tender an unconditional apology for maligning his reputation. In addition, Rahman’s counsel demanded the association to pay Rs 10 crore as compensation for defaming him. The musician would proceed with legal and criminal action if the association fails to pay the compensation.
The association’s complaint against Rahman states that the musician received an amount of Rs 29 lakh in 2018.
