Ex CM Awarded With Bharat Ratna!

Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Karpoori Thakur, has been posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, 35 years after his passing in 1988.

Known as Jan Nayak, Thakur served two impactful terms from December 1970 to June 1971 and from December 1977 to April 1979.

This recognition fulfills a long-standing demand from Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and is strategically timed ahead of the general elections, seen as a move to gain support from a state holding 40 parliamentary seats.

The conferment honors Thakur’s significant contributions to Bihar’s political landscape, marking a momentous occasion for the state.
