In a what we call a heart breaking moment, the United Breweries decided to stall the supply of all brands of the Kingfisher and Heinkein beers in Telangana due to losses.
The company has announced in a statement that they will be suspending the supply to the Telangana Beverages Corporation Ltd (TGBCL). The company termed it as ‘significant and ongoing operating losses.”
The company claims that the base prices for their products remain unchanged over last two years. It resulted them in significant losses, resulting in the operations coming to a halt.
United Breweries makes the popular brands of Kingfisher, Kingfisher strong, Kingfisher Ultra, Kingfisher UltraMax, Heinkein and some other beer brands which are most popular in Telangana. As a matter of fact, the products of UB occupy 60 to 70 per cent of the total beer sales in the state.
“We have a fiduciary responsibility to all our stakeholders, and with each beer sold at a loss, it has become unsustainable for us to continue our operations. Additionally, the substantial overdue payments for the supplies made to TGBCL further complicate the situation”, the statement from the company said.
