It’s a common occurrence every year for a chunk of Hyderabad’s residents to leave to their hometowns during the Sankranthi season. The same happened this year again with a substantial number of residents leaving the city yesterday and today.
Amidst the substantial exodus from the city, the roads have sported a very ‘empty’ look. The roadways of Hyderabad which are generally packed with high traffic are quite literally vacant now.
The high concentration Punjagutta, Banjara Hills, and Gachibowli junctions along with other key pockets in the city are seeing extremely low public transit.
We usually see such scenes in the city every Sankranthi season and the same is happening this time again. After having seen the roads packed with people through the course of the year, this recourse, albeit a brief one must be recuperating one for the roads of Hyderabad and also a pollution-free stint for the urban plantations.
As is known, the traffic will return with the arrival of coming weekend as residents will be returning coming Saturday and Sunday.
