YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, currently caught in a controversy over his remarks on recent episode of Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ said that he has been receiving death threats.
In a post on Instagram, he said: “I am feeling scared… But, I am not running away.”
“I am watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family,” he said, and revealed that some even tried to “invade” his mother’s clinic posing as patients.
After the Mumbai police said that they couldn’t trace him as his phone was switched off, Allahbadia shared the post stating: “My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better and I am genuinely sorry.”
He said that he has full faith in the police and the judicial system of India.
Ranveer, who runs the popular YouTube channel ‘BeerBiceps’, had made disrespectful remarks about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’.
His remarks kicked off a massive outrage, leading to multiple complaints against the YouTuber.
Following the complaints, the Mumbai and Assam police summoned him but as he failed to turn up, a police team visited his house in Versova, but it was locked.
Ravneer requested the Khar police that his statement be recorded at his residence, but it was turned down.
The Assam police team also is in search of Ranveer as a case was registered in Guwahati after a resident lodged a complaint over Allahbadia ‘promoting obscenity’ in a publicly accessible online show. Along with Ranveer, the case also mentioned the names of guest judges, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija.
Ranveer Allahbadia said his remark was intended for quick laughs was a “lapse in judgement”.
Meanwhile, Mahabharat actor Saurav Gurjar shared a video message strongly condemning Allahbadia’s comments.
“The kind of things he has said, I demand the government to take strict action against him. I am very angry right now. I don’t want to use foul language. If I meet him anywhere, no one can save him from me for what he said on the show,” he added.
A case has been registered against Ranveer by the Vijayawada Cyber Crime Police also. BJP state spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sharma announced on Saturday that a complaint was filed over Ranveer’s inappropriate remarks.
“Ranveer’s comments are misleading and provocative for the youth and children. He spoke in a manner that undermines Indian marriage and family systems. Action should be taken against him,” demanded Yamini Sharma.
