IT Employee Dies By Suicide, Alleging Wife’s Harassment

In a similar case to Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash’s suicide, another IT employee committed suicide alleging marital harassment.

30-year-old Manav Sharma from Agra worked as a manager with TCS in Mumbai. He alleged harassment by his wife, Nikita Sharma (28). Before hanging himself on February 24, he recorded a 6-minute and 57-second video expressing his distress over his marriage.

Manav apologized to his parents and pleaded that someone should talk about men’s struggles. ‘Please, someone should talk about men. They become very lonely.’

Manav got married on January 30, 2024 and after an initially peaceful period, conflicts came up after his wife allegedly threatened false accusations and expressed interest in living with her boyfriend.

Manav was threatened by Nikita’s family and the next morning he died by suicide.

Meanwhile, his wife Nikita Sharma rejected all the accusations and alleged that Manav had been struggling with alcohol addiction and attempted suicide multiple times.

He used to drink excessively and had attempted suicide multiple times. I saved him many times. He also assaulted me after drinking. My in-laws ignored my pleas saying that it is a matter between a husband and wife. I reached out to my in-laws that he may take an extreme step and I also informed his sister about it.
