Cricket Betting: Telangana Man Commits Suicide

The IPL season is here and with it comes the infamous betting season. Despite multiple warnings and statutory messages against betting, we see many people indulging in these activities and ending up paying huge prices.

In one such gutting story that unfolded in Telangana, a 29-year old has sadly lost his life due to cricket betting.

A 29-year-old man, Somesh from Gundla Pochampally, under Medchal police station jurisdiction, died by Suicide on a railway track in Goudavelli, allegedly after losing ₹2 lakh in Online Cricket Betting, according to a complaint filed by his parents at the police station. Notably, he had earlier also lost ₹1 lakh in online betting and this new loss adds to it.

Allegedly, according to media reports, he had even spent away the money that was earned by his family towards his sister’s marriage. After messing up the financials, he committed suicide on a train track, leaving his family not just in financial loss but also personal bereavement.
