Fact Check: No Truth In Change In Railway Tatkal Ticket Bookings

An image of the new Tatkal booking timings of the Indian Railways was spread widely across social media since yesterday. It was reported that the new Tatkal timings will come into effect from April 15. However, Indian Railways and the central government confirmed that it is fake news and appealed to the public not to believe it.

In an official statement, it was said, “Fake News ALERT: An image is being widely circulated on social media claiming that Tatkal booking timings will change from April 15th #PIBFactCheck. This Claim is #Fake. No such change in timings is currently proposed in the Tatkal or Premium Tatkal booking for AC or Non-AC classes. The permitted booking timings for agents also remain unchanged.”

It was confirmed that no change in timings is proposed in the Tatkal or Premium Tatkal bookings as of now. It was clarified that permitted booking timings for agents also remain unchanged.

In the circulated fake news picture, it was reported that the tatkal booking timings of AC class would change from 10 AM to 11 AM on the before day and Non-AC class would change from 11 AM to 12 PM on before day.

With clarification from the central government, people can now book their tatkal tickets as per the regular timings and not believe in any fake news.
