Fact Check : Australia Rejecting India Students’ Visa Applications?

Indian students who want to study abroad are finding it difficult due to constant visa rejections. Especially, after the USA tightened the rules, many students are getting deported for various reasons. It is becoming tough to get a visa. Meanwhile, there are reports that Australia is rejecting visa applications from specific states in India. But, the Australian High Commission clarified that there is no truth in the same.

“The assertion that Indian university student applications from specific Indian states are being banned or restricted is incorrect,” a spokesperson of the Australian High Commission, New Delhi, said.

Earlier, it was reported that several universities in Australia are suspending visa applications from Indian students in the states of Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The Australian High Commission clarified that over 125,000 Indian students are currently studying in Australia, making it the second-largest cohort of students from any country. They also confirmed that the Australian government continues to process Indian student visa applications in line with its global standards.

After the USA, Canada also started tightening the immigration norms for Indians.
