Content Creation was a hobby until COVID happened. Post-COVID, many content creators have emerged on social platforms, and it has become a solemn profession. YouTube has become an excellent platform for earning money through content creation. It has resulted in a lot of retired professionals, housewives, and people of all ages starting their own YouTube channels. In the last three years, YouTube paid the content creators almost 21K Cr rupees.
YouTube CEO Neel Mohan shared this exciting news at Mumbai’s World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES). In the last three years, YouTube has paid over ₹21,000 crore to Indian content creators, media companies, and others. He also said that YouTube plans to invest ₹850 crore more in the next two years to make the content creators financially stable.
YouTube was launched on February 14, 2005, and has now completed 20 years. There are over 100 million YouTube channels in India. Over the past year, around 15,000 YouTubers gained over 1 million subscribers.
Not just on YouTube, there are also content creators and social media influencers earning through Instagram. Gone are those days when people never imagined that you could earn lakhs every month, just sitting at home and making content of your own.
Looking at the current scenario, more YouTubers will emerge in the coming days, boosting the digital economy in a big way.
