The situation at the India-Pakistan border is concerning. Amid the security tensions, Air India and Indigo airlines issued a travel advisory to fliers. The airlines asked the passengers to arrive at the airports, at least three hours prior to scheduled departure and also confirmed that the check-in closes 75 minutes before departure.
“In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure,” the advisory from Air India said.
“In these extraordinary times, heightened security measures are taken up across all airports. We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” the advisory from Indigo said.
Also, India’s key domestic airlines said their flights from airports, including Amritsar and Srinagar, would remain suspended until Saturday. Flight operations at Kishangarh, Bhuntar (Kullu) and Ludhiana airports have been suspended too. Almost, 27 airports near the borders are closed.
