Drug racketeers are trying to hoodwink the police by changing the drug agents who supply narcotics to the customers. Surprisingly, the police discovered the involvement of old people in the drug supply network. The shift in the age group of the drug agents is being seen as a ploy by the drug racket organisers to divert cops attention.
Recently, police took a 70-year-old woman into custody suspecting her of involvement in drug peddling. Police found that she was involved in supplying ganja worth Rs 1 lakh to customers every month by concealing the contraband amidst vegetables. Her bank account details revealed even more startling details that much of her supplies were to youngsters and professionals.
The re-routing of the drugs through the elderly, it is learnt, has been done due to the increasing surveillance. With the narcotics dealers spreading their network rapidly, the Hyderabad Anti Narcotics Bureau (Hanab) and Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau (Tgnab) have heightened vigilance across the state. In just one year, Tgnab officials seized drugs worth more than Rs 200 crore. Of this, a major portion of the contraband is ganja.
Recently, the Hanab officials found Thai Ganja dealers supplying intoxicats in the name of Ocean Ganja (OG), to IT experts, CEOs and even doctors in various cities of India. Ganja is shifted from Thailand through the ocean route.
The police were astonished over the involvement of the old people in the illeal activity, as it reflected their lack of ethics at such a rope age and also their fearlessness of possible punishment, on being caught
red-handed.
The explanation for this unusual behaviour is learnt to be abandonment by their children.
