A terrible fire accident took place on Sunday in the old city area of Hyderabad. The incident occurred at Gulzar House near Charminar, where a sudden fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building.
Officials suspect a short circuit as the cause. The fire started after an AC compressor exploded on the first floor. Within minutes, the flames spread to the upper floors, trapping many residents who couldn’t escape in time. Sadly, 17 people have died so far, including several women and children. Many others were seriously injured.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and started rescue operations immediately. Three people had already died before help arrived. Many others were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals, but 14 more passed away during treatment.
The injured were shifted to Osmania, Yashoda, DRDO, and Apollo hospitals. Reports say that eight victims were burned alive, making it one of the deadliest recent incidents in the area.
The Telangana government responded quickly. District in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the site and reviewed the situation. He confirmed there was no delay in rescue work and said a full investigation is underway. Union Minister Kishan Reddy also visited the location, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy.
