The kind of impact that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is having on the tech industry is beyond imagination and it’s leading to all kinds of repercussions. This impact is being particularly felt in the domestic market as well, considering that there have been significant layoffs in the tech sector in the recent past.
But this is not going to be the end of the story either as we are hearing that as many as 2 million jobs could be directly affected by the AI revolution that’s in effect currently.
India’s Niti Aayog has now warned the working classes that the AI revolution could lead to cut as many as 2 million jobs domestically in India.
The Indian IT industry has a cumulative workforce of 8 million and a cut of 2 million jobs could be a very big deal. But at the same time, Niti Aayog has stated that 4 million new jobs could be created if certain advancements are made by the working individuals towards the AI advancements.
“If you do nothing, then you are ultimately bound to lose the job. This isn’t just about 2 million people losing their jobs, but also the possible 20 to 30 million people that are connected to this revenue stream.” Niti Aayog warns.
The clear indication here is that individuals must start training themselves in tune with AI and be a lot more efficient in their respective environments.
