IndiGo has announced that it will offer Rs 10,000 worth of travel vouchers to passengers who were severely affected during its recent operational collapse. This comes after the airline faced massive backlash last week, when thousands of travellers were stranded across the country due to widespread flight cancellations and delays.
The vouchers will be given to passengers who experienced the worst disruptions between December 3 and 5, and they can be used for any IndiGo flight over the next year. The airline said this benefit is in addition to the government-mandated compensation of five thousand to ten thousand rupees, depending on the scheduled flight duration.
IndiGo admitted that many people were left waiting at airports for several hours as the situation escalated, though it has not clarified how it plans to determine which passengers qualify as “severely impacted.”
The airline continues to issue apologies while working to stabilise its operations and address the public criticism surrounding the recent chaos.
