9 People Killed In Shooting At Famous Bondi Beach

At least 9 people have been killed in a mass shooting incident that happened at Bondi beach in Sydney on Sunday evening at around 06:30 PM local time. Two gunmen have reportedly opened firing at dozens of people at the popular beach, resulting in casualities.

As per the latest reports, one of shooters is among the deceased and the other one is in critical condition. The police have taken two people into custody in connection with the incident. Nine people were declared dead on spot and nearly 13 people suffered serious injuries, according to the police. It was believed that around 50 to 100 shots were fired at the people by the gunmen. The reasons behind the assualt are not yet known.

In a dramatic twist, a bystander pinned down one of the shooters who was hiding behind a tree and firing his gun. The brave act was caught on camera and the video is going viral on social media. The 15-second video shows an unarmed man hiding behind parked cars before neutralising the gunman from the back by snatching away his rifle.

As it is a weekend, the beach area was packed with visitors when the shooting took place. Immediately after the gunmen opened fire, panic spread all over the place and people displaced to take shelter. An event celebrating the Jewish festival of Hanukkah was reportedly taking place at Bondi Beach at the time of the shooting.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the scenes as shocking and distressing. The police are currently investigating the shooting incident.
