India Beats Japan, Becomes World’s 4th Largest Economy

India has reached a major economic milestone by overtaking Japan to become the world’s fourth largest economy in 2025.

According to estimates by the International Monetary Fund, India’s nominal Gross Domestic Product is expected to touch 4.187 trillion dollars this year. This places India just ahead of Japan, whose GDP is estimated at 4.186 trillion dollars.

This is a significant jump for India, which was ranked fifth among the world’s largest economies only last year. Strong growth in manufacturing, services, and domestic consumption has helped the country move up the global rankings.

Reports state that with the current pace of growth, India is now aiming to surpass Germany in the coming years. Projections suggest the Indian economy could reach around 7.3 trillion dollars by 2030.

Speaking on this development, the NITI Aayog CEO said that only the United States, China, and Germany are currently ahead of India. He added that if the growth momentum continues, India could become the world’s third largest economy within the next two and a half to three years.
