The importance of the artificial intelligence evolution in the IT sector has started to show repercussions on the workforce already. There are already too many layoffs and firing activities happening in the big companies in the recent past.
And now the latest developments are suggesting that a major IT company, Infosys has started to impose a new policy where they’ve introduced an AI project for basic programming and coding.
When a big company like Infosys brings in an AI coder like Devin, it is not for charity or learning support it is to do work faster and cheaper. This is precisely why the entry level workforce at Infosys is scared of the repercussions.
Earlier, that basic coding, testing, and fixing work was done by freshers and junior developers.
Now the same work can be done by one senior engineer using AI. So naturally, the first people to feel the impact are freshers, because the entry-level door itself is getting smaller.
Saying that AI will create new jobs may be true someday, but right now it is reducing the need for beginner jobs. This is a major cause of concern for the entry-level workers in the IT sector and even at major companies like Infosys.
