Heavy traffic was reported on the Hyderabad Vijayawada highway as Sankranti holidays came to an end. Since evening, people who went to their native places started returning to Hyderabad, leading to severe congestion on national highways.
Around hundreds of cars were reportedly stuck at different points due to traffic congestion. Roads coming from Andhra Pradesh towards Hyderabad were packed with vehicles, especially on major stretches.
Police imposed traffic diversions at several locations to manage the rush. Restrictions were enforced due to ongoing road expansion works on NH 65. Officials said traffic jams were more likely near Chityala, Peddakaparthi and Panthangi toll plazas. To avoid long delays, alternative routes were suggested to motorists.
Heavy vehicles coming from Vijayawada towards Hyderabad were diverted at Kodad. Instead of allowing them on NH 65, police redirected these vehicles through Huzurnagar, Miryalaguda, and Nalgonda routes. Some vehicles were also diverted via Kodad, Huzurnagar, Miryalaguda, Chinthapalli.
Police advised travelers to follow traffic updates and use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience as the festive rush continues on highways.
