What Really Made Lokesh Ignore Kaithi 2?

While the massive announcement of Allu Arjun’s next project with director Lokesh Kanagaraj created a huge impact, it also came as a big surprise to those who are anticipating the sequel to Karthi’s 2019 blockbuster Kaithi. 

Until recently, both Lokesh and Karthi have been maintaining that Kaithi 2 is very much on cards and promised to reunite after wrapping up their commitments. An official development on this much anticipated sequel was eagerly expected after the release of Coolie. However, no such news came out so far. 

Now, the sudden news about Allu Arjun’s film has further deteriorated the chances for Kaithi 2 to go on floors in the near future. While Lokesh Kanagaraj did not open up about Kaithi 2 till now, Karthi has suddenly changed his version when he was asked on the latest status of the sequel. 

During his latest media interaction, Karthi replied that Lokesh will address the fate of Kaithi 2. This cold answer from Karthi clearly hints that the crazy sequel is put on the back burner. 

As soon as Allu Arjun’s project was announced, rumours quickly emerged that Lokesh Kanagaraj has decided to move away from Kaithi 2 due to remuneration issues. There are unconfirmed reports that Lokesh will be taking home huge paycheck for directing Allu Arjun’s film. Another rumour is that the reason behind the delay in Kaithi 2 is due creative differences between Lokesh and Karthi. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj created a brand for himself with blockbuster films like Kaithi and Vikram. His gritty filmmaking style with unique screen play made him one of the favorite directors in the current generation. So, he should immediately address the rumours and give clarity on why he step aside from doing sequels like Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2 which he promised to work earlier.
