One of the biggest global companies in the world, Amazon is preparing for another major sizing down operation after the earlier layoffs that happened in October. It is being established that Amazon is preparing for another major reduction in headcount as the company could be firing thousands of corporate workers in the next few months.
According to the latest reports from global media, Amazon is planning another round of corporate layoffs next week, which is a part of a their broader effort to cut roughly 30,000 white-collar jobs.
It must also be noted that the leading e-commerce company had earlier cut down 14,000 jobs in October. The upcoming Singh down operation could witness another 16,000 job cuts or somewhere around this ball park. The total jobs cut would be around 30,000.
This is nearly 10% of Amazon’s corporate workforce and the largest layoff in the company’s history. AWS, retail, Prime Video, and HR are all affected.
CEO Andy Jassy initially attributed the cuts to AI, calling it “the most transformative technology since the Internet.” He later clarified, saying it’s “not really financially driven and it’s not even really AI-driven.
