Korean Game Addiction – 3 Sisters Jump From 9th Floor

A heart wrenching tragedy took place at Bharat City Society in Ghaziabad. Three minor sisters addicted to online gaming ended their lives by jumping from the 9th floor of their building after their parents scolded them for using mobile phones.

In the early hours of February 4, around 2 AM, all three girls jumped from the balcony, leaving locals in deep shock. The deceased were identified by police as Pakhi 12, Prachi 14, and Vishika 16. The three sisters, who shared everything together including food, studies, and daily life, got used to mobile phones during the COVID period in the name of online classes.

Gradually, it turned into gaming addiction. Investigation revealed that they became severely addicted to a Korean based online task based game, due to which they even stopped going to school. According to their father, the girls left behind a disturbing note that read, “We can’t leave Korea. Korea is our life. You can’t free us. We are ending our lives.”

After noticing changes in their behavior, their parents tried to curb their gaming obsession. When restrictions were imposed on mobile phone usage, the children fell into severe mental distress and, in a moment of impulse, took this extreme step.

Late at night, while everyone was asleep, they took an irreversible step together. Teela Mor police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

This incident shows how screen addiction among today’s children is becoming increasingly dangerous. Ending one’s life just for online games, leaving behind parents and dreams, stands as a serious warning to society.

Experts say it is absolutely necessary for parents to continuously monitor their children’s mobile habits. In recent times, incidents of suicidal thoughts among young children are occurring frequently. Many are becoming emotionally fragile and are unable to cope even with parental scolding or teacher punishment.
