The number of fatalities involving air travel in India has been going up at a concerning rate. Recently, it was the case of the helicopter crash, which killed Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Now we have another airway fatality.
Incidentally, a charter flight, which took off from Ranchi disappeared from the radar for a few minutes and concerns were raised about its safety. Later it was established that the charter flight, which was an air ambulance had sadly crashed.
Going into the story, on 23.02.2026, a Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd Beechcraft C90 aircraft, VT-AJV which was on a medical evacuation job from Ranchi to Delhi crashed in Kasaria Panchayat of Chatra district, in Jharkhand.
There were seven persons on board including two crew members. The aircraft was airborne from Ranchi at around 7 PM. After establishing contact with Kolkata at 19:34 PM, aircraft lost communication and RADAR contact with Kolkata at approximately South-East of Varanasi.
It was later established that this charter flight was an air ambulance on duty, and it crashed for undisclosed reasons. The authorities have arrived at the location and further investigation is underway.
A total of seven people were on board on this flight, including a doctor, paramedic, attendants and flight crew. Suddenly, all seven of them had passed away due to the severity of the impact.
