Middle East War Opens Door for Hyderabad & Vizag investments

The war-like situation in the Middle-East region, particularly around the UAE and other Gulf countries, is prompting companies to rethink where their critical operations should be located. Many companies based in Dubai and other Gulf cities are now discussing an important question: what happens if this kind of regional war-like tensions disrupt their business operations once again?

To reduce this risk, several firms are exploring setting up Business Continuity Centers (BCCs) outside the Gulf. These centres act as backup operational hubs that can keep a company’s technology, engineering, and customer support services running if disruptions occur in the region.

In this context, Hyderabad and Vizag are increasingly coming into focus. One major reason is the strong technology talent pool available in Hyderabad. Over the years, the city has grown into a global hub for software engineering, artificial intelligence, fintech and product development. Many international technology companies already operate large centres in Hyderabad, which gives other global firms confidence to establish backup operations there.

Another advantage is cost efficiency. Compared to cities like Dubai or Abu Dhabi, running operations in Hyderabad is significantly cheaper. Companies can hire skilled engineers, rent office space, and build large technology teams at a lower cost while maintaining high productivity.

The presence of managed office spaces is also helping. These plug-and-play offices allow companies to quickly set up operations without waiting months to develop infrastructure.

Currently, Hyderabad has the highest office workspace in India, which has paved the way for making Hyderabad the GCC capital of India. Along with BCCs, there is also rising interest in establishing Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and data centres in the region.

In the ongoing war tensions, an Amazon Data Centre was hit by Iran’s missiles, resulting in the temporary shutdown of AWS services worldwide. Data centres are essential for cloud services, financial platforms and other digital products. With reliable power supply, improving infrastructure, and supportive government policies, Hyderabad and Vizag are emerging as strong destinations for such investment. Vizag has already become key for data centres, with Google and other other major data centre investments there, making it one of the safest places in the world to bet on for data centres.

While uncertainty in the Middle East may create global concerns, it is also opening a strategic opportunity specifically for AP and Telangana. If state governments move quickly with the right policies and infrastructure, this shift could bring significant investment, new jobs and stronger global business activity to the region.
