India is witnessing record volume of internet and mobile data usage for the last few years, and this trajectory is going to continue on upward spiral in the future as well. But there is something detrimental happening with mobile carrier services which has become a headache.
Incidentally, the wider sections of the common public have been expressing dissatisfaction with the building cycle that are in operation for major network providers in India.
The crucial point here is that all the leading network providers have been providing monthly packages for just 28 days as opposed to the full 30 days. This issue had been in discussion on social media for several months, and it has reached the Indian Parliament (Rajya sabha) now.
MP Raghava Chadha brought up the topic in the parliament today and he had a strong opinion against this monthly package tenure followed by network providers.
“While monthly rentals for landlords and other expenses are billed for 30 days in a month, why should network providers get away with 28 days? While we pay all monthly bills, 12 times a year, we are having to pay network providers 13 times in a year. This exploitation must stop immediately.” He stated in the rajya sabha.
It is a fact that India has one of the cheapest network coverage packages anywhere in the world, but this problem regarding the tenure of the monthly packages has been a cause of concern for a while now.
It has to be seen if the Indian Parliament will collectively decide on this matter shortly and find an effective solution for the same.
