The Andhra Pradesh government has sought the help of World Health Organisation (WHO) to understand the ‘mysterious disease’ that led to hospitalisation of hundreds of people in Eluru in West Godavari district. The state government has decided to ask the international organisation to study about the disease that affected the people in the town.
A team of experts from WHO is expected to land in Eluru, according to the government officials. Already, the officials of CCMB and NIN are involved in identifying the cause of the disease.
Just as people fainted even while walking and froth emanated from their mouths during the styrene gas leak from LG Polymers in Vizag, similar scenes were witnessed in Eluru too. The people complained of giddiness, fatigue and epilepsy.
A youth driving a motorcycle collapsed on the road. A married woman fell unconscious even while she was speaking with her family members. A six-year-old girl fainted in a temple when she entered the premises along with her parents. One other person collapsed in the kitchen while an old woman fainted while cooking on the gas stove.
People complaining of convulsions and headache are reaching hospitals and getting admitted unable to understand the reason behind the sudden change in their health condition. Even the doctors and officials are clueless about the reason that could have led to this unprecedented incident.
