400 Football Fans Arrested After Celebrations Turn Wild in Paris

Anything out of control will lead to chaos. Even a victory celebration will result in violence if fans turn wild. That’s what happens when supporters act without restraint after their favourite sports teams wins a title. Many unfortunate incidents took place in the past due to uncontrolled crowd celebrations.

Now, Paris is witnessing another similar situation after the final game of UEFA Champions league between Arsenal and PSG last night. As the French team Paris Saint Germain FC won the title match against Arsenal in a penalty shootout, massive celebrations kicked off all over the capital city of Paris with thousands of supporters marching down the streets to enjoy the victory.

Hundreds of fans marched along the avenues near the Arc de Triomphe, with some setting off flares and blaring car horns. Around 20,000 people gathered on the Champs-Elysees, with heavy police personnel deployed to curb any unrest or anti social elements. However, they could not control the unbridled emotions of fans who created huge commotion in the streets.

Disturbances and clashes took parts at several places and more than 400 fans have reportedly been taken into custody by the police force. Tear gas was fired to control the mob and bring the situation under control. Some of the police officers are also injured in these clashes.

The Champs-Élysées was completely moved by fans shortly after the French team won the dramatic match. Even before the start of the game, there were clashes between police and supporters who showed up to watch the final on giant screens at PSG’s Parc des Princes.

This is not the first time that the city witnessed such a chaotic situation after a football match. Last year, PSG’s European championship triumph also witnessed clashes that left two people dead, including a 17-year-old boy.
