In November last year, a Saudi Prince identified as Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, who hails from the royal family of present rulers, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington, London, where he checked in for a week long stay.
At that time, several media reports claimed that the prince died due to cardiac arrest. However, there were also reports that he might have committed suicide or there was some foul play behind his shocking death. Putting an end to the entire mystery, the inquest has now made public the exact cause of his death.
As per the facts submitted before the court, the toxicology reports revealed a dangerous cocktail of substances in the prince’s system. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at 222 mg per 100 ml, which is nearly three times England’s legal drink-driving limit and has the power to inducing a coma on its own.
In addition to alcohol, investigators discovered toxic quantities of the central nervous system depressant GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), alongside recreational doses of Xanax, cannabis, and other anti-anxiety medications.
The post mortem report confirmed that the Prince died due to cardiac arrest as a result of fatal mix of alcohol and drugs in large quantities.
It has been further revealed that the tragedy comes shortly after Prince Abdullah had been getting treated to overcome his addiction for drugs. Just months prior to his death, he had enrolled for detoxification from several hazardous substances. He then followed it up with a rehabilitation program in another clinic, where he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection.
Even though he has been doing well after overcoming his addiction for some time, the sudden relapse has caused his body to overwhelm and caused the death instantly due to multi drug ingestion.
Following the ruling, the Saudi Royal Court officially acknowledged Prince Abdullah’s passing, with funeral prayers held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
