A fresh controversy has emerged around an Air India flight that faced severe turbulence earlier this month.
The Phuket to Delhi flight AI2379 reportedly dropped around 300 feet suddenly on August 4 after hitting strong turbulence. The turbulence continued for around four to five minutes and 17 people, including members of the cabin crew, were injured.
Now, reports suggest that the captain of the flight was found positive for traces of psychoactive substances during a post flight drug test.
The information has reportedly come from sources cited by national media. However, Air India has said that it has not yet received the test results.
The incident is currently being investigated by DGCA. The aviation regulator is looking into the circumstances surrounding the turbulence and other aspects of the incident.
The reported drug test result has raised fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding the flight. However, since Air India says it has not received the test results, the findings have not been officially confirmed by the airline.
Meanwhile, a passenger has reportedly filed a separate complaint, alleging that proper assistance was not provided at the airport after the incident.
The DGCA investigation is expected to bring more clarity on what happened during the flight and whether any safety or operational rules were violated.
