In a political arena as competitive as ours and dominated by money, it is definitely not common thing for a young 21-year-old lady to become the youngest Mayor of India from Thiruvananthapuram City.
Pursuing second year B.Sc Mathematics, Arya comes from a humble background. Her father – an electrician – and mother – an LIC agent, did their best to raise their daughter by encouraging her in politics. Having won from Mudavanmugal ward as CPI (M) candidate, Arya had defeated her nearest opponent Sreekala (UDF) by a majority of 2872 votes. Arya is serving as State President of Bala Sangham and as state office bearer of CPM’s student wing SFI (Student Federation of India).
The party’s district committee has suggested her name on Friday and she is likely to be announced as the next Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram after the state committee approves it. Arya is just an announcement away from becoming the youngest person of the country to occupy a Mayor post.
The news immediately brought her to headlines and limelight. Netizens began to search about her and wishing Arya the best.
