The 14 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will return to India and ahead of this the IPL governing body will hold a mini auction. The date and place has been confirmed and the auction will be held on February 18th in Chennai.
Though this is a mini auction, all the teams are going to seriously bid for players. The likes of Lasith Malinga, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch are in the auction foray. Indian players such as Shivam Dube, Kedar Jhadav, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Umesh Yadav, Parthiv Patel and others too are also available for auction.
The franchises are showing interesting in bidding for Australian players Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. It will be interesting to see which franchise will buy these two Aussie players and for what price they would bid.
However, the IPL governing body is maintaining a strategic silence on the two new teams. There were reports that IPL might invite two new teams but they will be part of the cash rich tournament from 2022 which happens to be the 15th edition of IPL.
