#IPL2021: Kings Eleven Punjab To Undergo Name Change

The 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will return to India and in another two days, the auction of players will be held in Chennai. Ahead of this, a franchise is likely to undergo a change of name and it is Bollywood actress Priety Zinta’s team.

From Kings Eleven Punjab, the name is proposed to change to Punjab Kings. Accordingly the franchise has written to the BCCI seeking its approval. Mostly likely the Indian cricket board will give its nod.

This is not the first time that a franchise is undergoing a name change. Earlier GMR owned franchise, Delhi Daredevils changed its name to Delhi Capitals. The change of name has changed the fortunes of the team too. Delhi Capitals made it to the semi-finals and finals of 2019 and 2020 tournaments respectively.

Coming to Kings Eleven Punjab, the team did not win a single IPL trophy, though it reached the finals only ones. This time the franchise wants its team to lift the trophy under the leadership of LK Rahul.
