India’s right-arm pace bowler, Jasprit Bumrah’s wedding was all over the headlines and cricket enthusiasts swooned over their plush wedding arrangements. Bumrah married his lady love, Sanajna Ganesan, a TV presenter, on 15 March 2021. The social media was figuratively filled with wedding pictures and fans poured in best wishes for the newlywed.
But, Bumrah and Sanjana’s reception pictures, which looked surreal and like a fairytale, received flak from the netizens. The pictures showed firecrackers and sparkles in the backdrop and netizens were quick to point out the alleged hypocrisy Bumrah has portrayed. In simpler words, Bumrah urged his fans back in 2017 during Diwali to not burn crackers. He tweeted about the same to his fans during the festivity and said that he would never burn crackers.
Now that his wedding events had a whopping amount of crackers burnt, netizens slammed the bowler to follow what he preaches. “Jaspreet Bumrah says no to crackers on Diwali and meanwhile his wedding is celebrated with crackers. Knock it off buddy,” read a comment. Another user wrote, “For personal enjoyment, crackers are fine to Jasprit Bumrah – to preach others “say no to crackers” – this is his level of mind – preach but no practice”.
Bumrah maintained his silence on the issue and also expressing gratitude for the love and wishes he received from his fans. He took to Twitter and wrote: “The last few days have been nothing short of absolutely magical! We are so grateful for all the love & wishes we’ve received. Thank you.”
