US: Early Morning Earthquake In L.A. Area

A large number of earthquakes shook the south of Los Angeles County of Lennon in the L.A. area today morning. The largest of them is said to be at 4.0 magnitude that was strongly felt in LA and Orange counties.

At 4:44 a.m on Monday, a large earthquake occurred with its epicenter in Century Boulevard and Doty Avenue. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 12.3 miles and the tremors could be felt.

No reports of damage have been received by the L.A. County Fire Department. Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred at around 4:15 a.m also in Lennox, just a half-mile away from the larger quake with the epicenter at West 104th street and Dixon Avenue.

On Sunday afternoon too, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake hit the Riverside County city of Beaumont. On April 1, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at Huntington Park in southeast L.A.County.
