The second wave of Covid-19 is shattering the country with over 1.75 Lakh cases getting reported every day. Due to rise in cases, the hospitals in many states are running short of beds. If this is the situation, there is another situation that is causing worry. Like the cases, even Covid-19 deaths are on the rise.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state Gujarat is on the verge of becoming another Maharashtra. Over the last few days, there is a huge rise in Covid-19 new cases and deaths in the state. Coming to the death tally, it is about to touch the 5000 mark but to cremate the body, finding a crematorium is getting difficult.
In Ahmedabad, ambulances that are carrying Covid-19 corpses are making long queues before the crematoria. A video of this is posted on Twitter and it has gone viral. The video shows long queues of vehicles and it is taking hours to cremate one body. In order to fasten the burning process, crematoria are using ghee and kerosene and getting the things done.
This is a horrific situation and the state government needs to do adequate measures to contain the virus and also cremate the Covid corpse with dignity.
