IPL 2021: Uncapped players that impressed in the first week of IPL

We are done with the first week of IPL 2021 and in the eight matches held, many of them were nail-baiting thrillers. These matches also witnessed some serious talent among the uncapped players. If they manage to continue the same form throughout the season, they may catch the attention of selectors like Surya Kumar Yadav and Natarajan did last season. Here are some of the sparkling players of the first week.

Nitish Rana:

Rana has been a consistent performer in the IPL for the last few years. This year, he was promoted to the opening slot and that is working very well for his team Kolkata Knight Riders. In the two matches he played, Rana scored a total of 137 runs with two half-centuries under his belt. He is also the leading run-scorer of the tournament right now. If he manages to secure that cap this year, Rana will definitely catch the attention of selectors.

Harshal Patel:

Another player who is playing in the IPL circuit for a long time is Harshal Patel. He was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. In the first match itself, Harshal proved his worth by scalping five wickets. In the second match against SRH, he took two wickets with an economical spell. If Harshal continues the same form throughout the season, we may see him making it big later this year.

Avesh Khan:

This young pacer caught our attention last year with his good wicket-taking abilities. He is continuing that good show this season as well. In the first match against CSK, Avesh took 2 wickets by giving only 23 runs. In the second match, he took three wickets by giving 32 runs. Avesh may need to prove a lot more to get selected for Team India. But he can definitely grab the attention by doing well this season.

Arshdeep Singh and Chetan Sakariya:

Arshdeep of Punjab Kings and Chetan of Rajasthan Royals impressed with their exceptional bowling skills in their respective first matches of the season. In his IPL debut match, Chetan scalped three wickets against Punjab Kings and gave only 31 runs in a high-scoring game.

On the flip side, Arshdeep impressed in the very same match by defending 13 runs off the last over he bowled. He is very clear about the balls he should bowl and maintained the same discipline even though he is facing a settled batsman like Sanju Samson. Generally, we see inexperienced players getting tensed in those situations but that didn’t happen with Arshdeep. Thus, he may have a bright future if he continues the same form and attitude in the game.
