Being bought for an expensive price and not performing up to the mark had become a norm for Australian star allrounder Glenn Maxwell for the last few years in IPL. Barring the 2014 season where he made 500-odd runs, Maxwell couldn’t do well in any other season. Finally, after a gap of seven years, Maxwell is repeating his supreme form this season.
Maxwell was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore this season for a huge price of Rs. 14.25 crores. Everyone criticized RCB’s management for shelling out a lot of money on him. But Maxwell is justifying the trust kept on him. In the three matches RCB played this season, Maxwell remained the top scorer for his side by getting 176 runs. He is also the current orange cap holder of this season.
Maxi made two consecutive half-centuries in the last two matches. He played responsible innings in both games. Generally, we see Maxwell throwing away his wicket with reckless batting. But his approach is different this time and the responsible game is doing wonders for RCB. Maxwell’s supreme form helped RCB win all its three matches this season. Going by the current scenario, we can expect him to play a key role in the team’s success along with captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. On the flip side, Punjab fans are feeling bad for leaving him from the squad. Meanwhile, RCB fans are celebrating his stunning show and are expecting more such innings in the upcoming games.
