IPL 2021: What’s The New ‘3-meter rule’ In DRS For LBW?

Some rules in cricket seem to be very absurd and confusing. One of them is the DRS system in LBW calls. The decision review making in LBW calls sometimes seems very confusing to players as well as fans. Now, this absurd rule is making the headlines once again.

In the last night’s game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals, the umpire’s call in an LBW decision created a bit of controversy. RCB appealed for an LBW in the ninth over bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. The batsman in question was Marcus Stoinis. The soft signal was not out. The third umpire asked the on-field umpire to stay with his decision because the impact of the ball over 3 meters.

Many fans were confused about this decision. According to the reports, If a player comes down the track above three meters, it is tough for the technology to confirm the result. Thus, the third umpire goes with the on-field umpire’s decision in those instances.

As Stoinis came down the track last night, the third umpire went with a soft signal and called it a not out. RCB beat Delhi Capitals by one run in this game.
