Kargil war hero Subedar Major (Retired) Hari Ram Dubey, who lost his 31-year-old son, was all tears as he lost his son to Covid-19. The veteran said he had served the nation in crucial time and the system could not save his son. He said he had to wait for hours to see his son’s body one last time.
“I had served my motherland from 1981 till 2011 and was fielded from Kargil to Baramulla to Ladakh and Lukung. I had eliminated terrorists in Baramulla and fought against Pakistan in Kargil but the system could not help my son Amitabh, who died of Covid on Tuesday evening,” an emotional Kargil hero Hari Ram Dubey was quoted as saying in his interview to India Today.
The retired serviceman waited for hours to see his 31-year-old son’s body at Hallet Hospital in Kanpur. Finally, Dubey and his family were allowed to see the dead-body of their beloved person by wearing PPE kits and were allowed to spend brief-time at his body. There are several such instances across UP’s Kanpur and several parts of the country. Each story is quite moving and heart-wrenching.
