Delhi Capitals’ opener Prithvi Shaw had set up a new record in the Indian Premier League last night. Shaw became the first batsman in IPL history to smash six consecutive fours in the first over of an innings. Shaw achieved this feat in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the first over bowled by Shivam Mavi, Shaw had hit six consecutive fours and put Delhi in the dominating position while chasing a target of 155. Including a wide, a total of 25 runs came in that over. Shaw is the second batsman to hit six consecutive fours in any over in the history of IPL. Ajinkya Rahane is the other batsman to achieve this feat.
Shaw and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan made a partnership of 132 runs for the first wicket and helped Delhi in chasing the target quite comfortably. While Kolkata Knight Riders made 154/6 in 20 overs, Delhi scored 156/3 in 16.3 overs. With this win, Delhi is now in the second position on the points table. On the flip side, KKR is in the fifth position with only 2 wins in their seven games.
