Twitter Explains Why users Are Losing Followers

After several celebrities and netizens brought to light that they are witnessing constant fluctuations in their Twitter follower count, Twitter has come forward to explain why the users are experiencing the ordeal. The social media giant says that this could be due to the removal of existing spam profiles from the platform.

Not so long ago, Twitter had been doing a big clean up of the total accounts and it has removed several bots and fake accounts. A couple of days ago, along with Twitterati even actor Anupam Kher and TV journalist Richar Kher claimed they lost hundreds of followers in a day.

“We do this regularly to help prevent spam and keep all accounts secure,” the company stated. One has to remember that follower numbers do vary and there could also be a sudden drop occasionally because Twitter does clear out fake accounts from time to time. All spam accounts include troll accounts that are made with temporary email IDs.

The company has always asked users to confirm personal details and it has reiterated the same today. When Anupam Kher claimed that he lost nearly 80,000 followers in 36 hours, we also recall how Big B claimed the same back in 2018. Twitter cleanses accounts that are breaking their terms of service. These accounts are tagged by the system as spammers or bots.
