US President Joe Biden has tested positive for Covid-19, the White House announced.
Biden is experiencing ‘mild symptoms’ according to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time,” she said.
Meanwhile, First lady Jill Biden said she tested negative Thursday morning.
This is the first time Biden tested positive for Covid-19. Biden received his first two doses of the Pfizer vaccine in January 2021 and his first booster shot in September and his second booster vaccination on March 30.
Biden is at an increased risk for a more severe case of Covid-19 due to his age.
