US: House Passes Bill To Ban TikTok

The House approved the legislation that bans the popular social media app TikTok in the US.

The legislation to ban TikTok was introduced in the House to Protect Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. The China tech giant ByteDance owns TikTok.

The House passed the bill to ban TikTok in the US and now the bill heads to the Senate. The senators appear divided about the legislation. The House had 352-62 votes to ban TikTok.

The TikTok spokesperson said after the vote was passed,’ We are hopeful that the Senate will consider the facts, listen to their constituents, and realize the impact on the economy, 7 million small businesses, and the 170 million Americans who use our service’.

Lawmakers from both parties claim that TikTok poses a national security risk because of its alleged ties to the CCP. Meanwhile, Donald Trump opposed the bill as it would make Facebook bugger and he said,’I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people’.
